Richmond Skate Ranch – “Legends Never Die” Campaign

Protest Movement is super stoked to announce that we have joined forces with the legendary Kevin Harris along with Ryan Ellan at Sasquatch Sign Co. to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of when the Richmond Skate Ranch opened their doors by creating amazing products exclusively available through our website which will help raise money towards positive skateboard events that help grow the next generations of skateboarders. We bring you the Limited Edition RSR – Legends Never Die Cruiser Deck only 100 available signed and numbered by Kevin Harris himself, and also give the opportunity to order multiple styles of T-shirts, Hats or Hoodies. 25% of the profits from the Decks and 15% of the profits from the apparel will be donated directly to Hippie Mike’s Super Tour to give back to Canadian Skateboarding. ALL products will be for sale for the month of April only on a Pre-Order basis and items will be shipped on June 1st.

The Richmond Skate Ranch was an amazing Indoor Skate Park built right after Expo ’86 happened in Vancouver, Canada, to give a home to the Expo Vert Ramp, and it helped to build some of the most well known, and well respected Canadian Skateboarders to come out of the 90’s like Colin McKay, Rob “Sluggo” Boyce, Rick Howard, Moses Itkonen, Sean Mortimer, Ben Chibber, Peter Sullivan and John Raimondo all who have gone on to build their own successful skateboard brands and companies in the industry that helped build more skateboarders. The stories of the infamous “Ranch” still live today as memories of the best place ever to skate in the late 80’s to mid 90’s. People travelled from all over the world to come check it out, skateboarding was not as accepted back then and to have an indoor spot where it was safe to skate and no one would bother you with ignorant comments or actions was revolutionary. Who better to give all these guys such opportunities but Canada’s first Professional skateboarder Kevin Harris. Kevin looks back on the Skate Ranch as a place where he watched the next generations of skateboarders grow and that is something he wants to continue, so as we partner together to run this “Legends Never Die” Campaign we will be donating proceeds from the profits to the 2017 Hippie Mike’s Super Tour, a local series of contests that travels around the lower mainland of British Columbia every summer hosting 3-4 competitions for all ages of skateboarders to participate in and have fun together.

Check out the line up of product below and head over to our Shop Page to make your purchase and help support the future of skateboarding. Remember those Decks are Limited Edition so get ‘em while they’re Hot!

Killa B “I Am Me” Round 2 – with PAFC

Autism Awareness Campaign

April is Autism Awareness Month and we’re back with Round 2 of the Killa B “I Am Me” Campaign, this time partnering with Pacific Autism Family Network (PAFN) as the charity of B’s choice.

This amazing 12 year old simply known as “B”, or Killa B when on his skateboard, snowboard or surfboard, is always making positive moves to help bring more awareness and acceptance to Autism through events like ASD Sk8 Day and Autism Surf’s Up Event. This year the ASD Sk8 Day Event will be held at Pacific Autism Family Centre in Richmond, BC, and B wanted to help raise some funds for them, so Protest Movement and Supa Society have created the Killa B “I Am Me” Snapback Hat and $5 from every hat sold will be donated directly to the Pacific Autism Family Network.

To learn more about the PAFN and what they do check out their website

If you missed the first round of this “I Am Me” campaign we raised over $1,600 to donate to Supa Society to help out with these upcoming events that give kids and families living with Autism a chance to get out and have fun skateboarding and surfing.

We’re super proud to have Killa B as part of the Protest Movement Crew and we are so excited to see where he takes us all in life…

I AM ME

I was introduced to skateboarding when I saw the documentary on Danny Way jumping the Great Wall of China. Right there and then I knew I wanted to skate. My first board was a Danny Way complete board I bought online. Something magical happened that day between a boy and his skateboard: we spoke to each other as if we were one in a world where autism did not exist. We danced on concrete as I became one with my board, and suddenly a kid who never quite fit in blossomed.

This is where my vision was born for the “I AM ME” campaign for autism. Putting real stories and real faces to brands and companies that want to be change-makers, creating social difference in our world and impacting the lives of youth who need it most. My goal is to bring autism awareness, social acceptance, and inclusiveness to a global level.

I want to create opportunities where brands can give back a portion of their proceeds to the autism community and help non-profit programs like ASD SK8 Day continue to thrive. Skateboarders with autism, like myself, can be sponsored and become brand ambassadors, letting companies get in on a massive untapped market in the Canadian skate industry.

I want to create a buzz in communities looking to connect with and support the autism community, or other special needs, and want an inspiring role model for their children.

One in 68 children are born with autism, five times more likely in boys. Yet if you meet one child with autism, you meet one child with autism. I may seem different but I am not, I AM simply ME.
